Dawn Richard announces 'Redemption'
Dawn Richard, the experimental R&B-ist who stylizes her name as D∆WN, has announced she will return with the conclusion of her solo LP trilogy, Redemption, on Nov. 18. She has also shared “Renegades” off the set.
When EW spoke to Richard earlier this year, she said her goal for the collection was to celebrate her femininity. “The lyrics are super sexy and strong,” she said. “I want to dance. I want to get up and celebrate something — and why not celebrate being a woman?”
For the release, the 32-year-old teamed up with studio wiz MachineDrum to help her produce. “We sat down and it was this crooked marriage between soul and trance, soul and jungle,” Richard said of their partnership.
The former Danity Kane member has previously shared “Not Above That” off the set, which EW named as one of the best songs of 2016 so far. She also released an EP titled Infrared in May. That project was a collaborative release with LA-producer Kingdom Drop. “Renegades” is streaming below.
