Dax Shepard is reflecting on his 2020 relapse.

On Monday's episode of his "Armchair Expert" podcast, the "Parenthood" alum took the time to thank his wife, Kristen Bell, and co-host Monica Padman for helping him feel "unconditionally loved" following his recent relapse. In September, Shepard emotionally revealed that he had broken 16 years of sobriety by taking prescription pain pills that were given after a recent motorcycle accident.

“I can’t imagine having to admit that to other people and feeling as safe as I did that you guys wouldn’t hate me. I hated me at that point and so, to be able to tell you guys and feel unconditionally loved and that I would be accepted was really special,” Shepard said. “It saved my life.”

Bell, his wife of seven years, responded that she is "so appreciative" of everyone who supported her husband during this difficult time and commended Shepard for his bravery and honesty.

“Nobody saved you but you and your courage and boldness to say, ‘I feel like I’m slipping’ or ‘I did slip, and I need to be honest before it gets worse’ and I’m just grateful to all parties involved. I think we did a really good job, team," Bell applauded.

Shepard then reflected on his difficult year, in which he also underwent surgery after breaking multiple bones in a motorcycle accident. However, he remained positive, maintaining that 2020 was still "a great year."
