DDG Asserts He Has No Interest In Dating Unless He Reconciles With Halle Bailey
After publicly announcing his split from Halle Bailey last week, DDG has revealed if he plans on dating right away.
While speaking on his YouTube live stream this week, the successful content creator and rapper told his fans that he wasn’t interested in entering another relationship, unless it’s with the mother of his son.
“I am not dating anyone,” he asserted. “I don’t have a potential girlfriend, nor do I even think about that. I don’t plan on getting into another relationship, unless it’s Halle. That’s the only way. I am not finna get a new girlfriend.”
On October 3, the “Moonwalking in Calabasas” rapper announced that he and The Little Mermaid star are taking a break to focus on their “individual journeys.”
He wrote: “After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways. This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we’ve shared.
“Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other,” he went on. “As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we’ve build and the beautiful moments we’ve shared.” The 26-year-old requested that fans offer “understanding and support” as they “navigate this transition.”
He concluded with, “Thank you for your love and encouragement.”
Bailey and DDG, né Darryl Dwayne Grandberry Jr., first sparked rumors of their romance in January 2022 before they confirmed their relationship two months later.
While speaking with VIBE the same year, DDG expressed that he and Halle were in their “own world” and that their relationship was a “happy place” for him.
“We be in our own world,” he said at the time. “Then when I see the stuff on the internet, I be like, ‘Oh, that’s cool.’ But I really don’t like the pressure they put on it and all the public stuff, but that comes with it.” He added, “But this is definitely a very, very happy place for me, for sure.”
The couple further solidified their relationship with the birth of their first child together, son Halo, in 2023.
Bailey introduced him to the world with an Instagram post, writing, “Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son. Welcome to the world my halo the world is desperate to know you.”
DDG also expressed his excitement to be a father with, “This is one of my biggest accomplishments.”
