'Dead Poets Society' screening kicks off The Everett's fall season in Middletown

As we approach the vibrant autumn season, The Everett Theatre, a cornerstone of the arts community in Middletown, is excited to announce a series of captivating events and performances that celebrate our shared love for film, theater and the visual arts.

'Dead Poets Society's 35th anniversary screening

We are thrilled to host a special screening of "Dead Poets Society" on Saturday, Sept. 7, commemorating the 35th anniversary of this iconic film, which has touched the hearts of generations. Our patrons are invited to immerse themselves in the world of Welton Academy and join us for an evening that promises both nostalgia and inspiration.

Attendees have the option to purchase a film-only ticket or enhance their experience with a combo ticket that includes access to a pre-screening celebration reception beginning at 5 p.m.

The reception will feature memorabilia and props from the film, lite appetizers, a cash bar, exclusive merchandise, and a silent auction where you can bid on unique items. This is a night that promises to be as unforgettable as the film itself.

Kicking off the fall lineup with 'The Prom'

Following this celebration of cinema, we are proud to present our fall theatrical season, beginning with "The Prom."

''This delightful musical tells the story of Emma, a high school student who just wants to take her girlfriend to the prom, and the group of Broadway has-beens who swoop in to save the day. ''The Prom'' will run on Friday to Sunday, Sept. 13, 14, 20, 21 at 7:30 PM, with matinee performances on Sept. 15 and 22 at 2 p.m.

Upcoming auditions: 'Anastasia: The Musical'

Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that auditions for ''Anastasia: The Musical'' will be held on Monday, Sept. 2, and Thursday, Sept. 5, from 6 to 9 p.m., with callbacks on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 1 to 5 p.m.

We invite aspiring actors to audition and join us in bringing this beloved story of mystery, adventure and romance to life on The Everett stage in December 2024.

The Gibby fall art classes

In addition to our theatrical offerings, The Gibby is launching an incredible array of visual arts classes this fall.

With 35 classes and workshops now open for enrollment, there's something for everyone. Whether you're interested in Paper Quilling, Watercolor Galaxy Painting for Seniors, or Mandala Drawing, The Gibby’s fall programming offers a creative outlet for all ages.

'Nevermore: The Final Tale of Edgar Allan Poe'

For those who love a good mystery, join us for "Nevermore: The Final Tale of Edgar Allan Poe,'' a thrilling stage play that delves into the mind of one of literature's most enigmatic figures.

This production will run on Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 18, 19, 25, 26 at 7:30 p.m., with matinee performances on Sunday, Oct. 20 and 27 at 2 p.m., offering a chilling exploration of Poe’s final days.

The Everett Annual Gala: Casino Night

Finally, we invite the community to our Annual Gala, a night of elegance and celebration, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9. This year’s theme is Casino Night, featuring music by DJ Vic, blackjack tables, roulette, Texas Hold’em poker, a silent auction, a dessert buffet, and an open bar with signature drinks and craft beer. The event promises to be an unforgettable evening of entertainment and support for The Everett.
