Deadpool & Wolverine’s Emma Corrin ‘Felt So Bad’ About Killing Major Cameo Character
Emma Corrin says she “felt so bad” watching people react to her kill a major cameo character in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Deadpool & Wolverine was released in United States theaters in July 2024. The Marvel Studios movie sees Corrin play the villainous Cassandra Nova, while Ryan Reynolds stars as Wade Wilson/Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
In Deadpool & Wolverine, the Merc with a Mouth and Wolverine are sent to the Void and run into Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm/the Human Torch; however, shortly after his introduction, Evans’ character is brutally killed by Cassandra.
What did Emma Corrin say about the brutal Deadpool & Wolverine death scene?
Speaking with British GQ about the moment, Corrin said she felt “absoooolutely mad” filming that scene. She continued, “I felt so bad when we were in the screening the other day. Because we watched it after the New York premiere with all these Lincoln Center full of fans, and everyone was so excited when they see him appear on screen, and then after three minutes, I’ve killed him. I felt terrible. I was hiding in my seat. Yeah, it was weird. Not something I thought I’d be doing if you’d asked me a few years ago.”
She added, “That’s something [Marvel] do so well, the cameos. You know, they give the people what they want. They give them cameos. But they also don’t use them gratuitously. They’re all there for a reason. And I think you really sense that. Or, I hope people sense that, because I think they’re used really cleverly.”
Evans played Johnny Storm in 2005’s Fantastic Four and 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, both of which were directed by Tim Story. He went on to play Steve Rogers/Captain America in the MCU, while Joseph Quinn will now play Johnny in the forthcoming MCU Fantastic Four movie releasing in 2025.
Deadpool & Wolverine is now playing in United States theaters.
