Demi Moore Fuels Speculation That She Doesn't Approve of Channing Tatum's Plans To Remake 'Ghost'
Demi Moore doesn’t seem too excited by Channing Tatum‘s plans to remake her iconic 1990 hit Ghost.
In a September 3 interview with Variety, Moore, 61, discussed the possibility that the Magic Mike actor might remake the Oscar-winning movie in which she starred alongside Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg.

“There are some films better left alone,” Moore said, “but it depends on what the take is.”
“The success of Ghost is really about alchemy. Think about Whoopi, who anchored the comedy in a magical way,” Moore said of her co-star who landed an Oscar for her supporting role. “Or Tony Goldwyn, the boy next door who is the most unsuspecting villain. And the sweetness and virility of Patrick Swayze.”
Moore’s comments come after an August report in which insiders claimed Tatum was navigating a “minefield” by taking on the project and potentially clashing with “huge, outspoken personalities like Whoopi and Demi, who are going to be asked about the film every time they’re in front of the press.”
Back in May, Moore seemed to be trying to appear neutral when she was asked about Tatum’s plans. “I think there are some films that often are better left not touched, and left, and then sometimes there are wonderful surprises in that reinterpretation,” she told Entertainment Weekly, revealing that the Blink Twice star had not reached out to her about his project.
However, Moore did seem complimentary of Tatum during her interview with Variety. “Channing is incredibly intelligent and talented — who knows what he would bring to it if it happened,” she said.
Tatum first revealed that his production company, Free Association, has the rights to Ghost in a January 2023 interview with Vanity Fair. At the time, Tatum hinted that they were in the early stages of ideating a remake with him potentially taking on Swayze’s role.
“But we’re going to do something different,” he said, referring to the movie’s problematic racial stereotypes that may not have aged too well. “I think it needs to change a little bit.”
