Denis Leary’s Fox Army Comedy Enlists Danny Pudi, 4 Others
Going Dutch, Fox’s midseason Army comedy starring Denis Leary, has enlisted Community grad Danny Pudi, Dave vet Taylor Misiak and three others.
Ordered to series in May, Going Dutch follows an arrogant, loudmouth U.S. Army colonel (played by Leary) who, after an epically unfiltered rant, is reassigned to the Netherlands, where he is punished with a command position at the least important army base in the world.

“After serving with distinction in every war zone of the last three decades, he now finds himself in charge of a base with no guns, no weapons, and no tactical purpose,” the official logline describes. “Instead, it has a Michelin-star level commissary, top-notch bowling alley, and the best (and only) fromagerie in the U.S. Army. Surrounded by a diverse group of underdogs, the colonel tries to reinstall military discipline and professionalism with the help of the base’s previous interim leader, who just happens to be his estranged daughter.”
Misiak will play said offspring, Captain Maggie Quinn, acting commanding officer of USAG in the Netherlands, Deadline reports, while Pudi will fill the role of XO Major Abraham Shah, the Colonel’s Executive Officer and right-hand man.
In addition to his run as Community‘s Abed, Pudi more recently co-starred on Mythic Quest, which dropped its Season 3 finale in January 2023; Apple TV+ did not respond to TVLine’s request for comment on that series’ status.
Going Dutch‘s other new series regulars include Laci Mosely (iCarly) as Sergeant Dana Conway, a crafty Supply Sergeant, and Hal Cumpston (The Walking Dead: World Beyond) as Corporal Elias Papadakis, the base’s head of IT.
Additionally, Dempsey Bryk (Willow) will heavily recur as Private Anthony “BA” Chapman, who is described as “a golden retriever of a soldier.”
Going Dutch hails from Joel Church-Cooper, who previously created IFC’s Brockmire. He’ll serve as showrunner and will exec-produce with Leary and his son, Jack.
