Dennis Quaid, 65, and Laura Savoie, 26, flash engagement ring on the red carpet
After announcing their engagement in October, Dennis Quaid and Laura Savoie debuted her new bling at an event in Nashville over the weekend. Quaid, 65, and Savoie, who is 39 years his junior, smiled and posed for photos on the red carpet at the YouTube premiere of the documentary The Gift: The Journey of Johnny Cash. At one point Quaid grabbed his fiancée's hand, showing off her engagement ring to photographers.
Quaid proposed to the 26-year-old student in Hawaii last month.
"I had the ring in my pocket. It has been kind of a month-and-a-half plan — I wanted it to be private," the Goliath actor told Extra of the "sunset" proposal. "She was actually taking a selfie of us, and I put the ring in front and said, 'Will you marry me?' And then she fell down."
He added, "It happened on the very northernmost point of Oahu, at Turtle Bay. It was kind of spontaneous. It was very much a surprise."
Savoie, who is originally from St. Louis, Missouri, is working towards her PhD in accounting at the University of Texas in Austin. It's unclear how the pair met although the actor previously had a home in Austin. Quaid and Savoie were first photographed together this past spring with People reporting they had been together for several months.
This will be Quaid's fourth time down the aisle. He divorced real estate agent Kimberly Buffington, 47, in 2016 after 12 years of marriage. He was previously married to actress P.J. Soles, 69, from 1978-83 and to Meg Ryan, 57, from 1991-2001. Savoie was previously linked to Entourage star, Jeremy Piven.
