Dennis Quaid Says He Doesn’t “Regret Anything” About Marriage to Meg Ryan
Dennis Quaid is looking back at his previous marriage to Meg Ryan and sharing the best thing that came out of their relationship.
The Reagan actor was recently interviewed on Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?, where host Chris Wallace asked him if being in the spotlight — and being labeled one of “Hollywood’s golden couples” — impacted their relationship. The pair were married from 1991 to 2001.

“When I met Meg, I was here as far as career thing, and she was here,” Quaid recalled, holding one hand representing himself above his hand representing Ryan. “And then it just [switched] like that,” he added as he inverted his hand positions.
“I try to be a big person and tell myself that it didn’t bother me, but people are human,” Quaid said of his ex-wife’s rising popularity at the time. “She was ascending as I went into rehab.”
However, more than two decades after they went their separate ways, Quaid still has nothing but positive things to say about Ryan.
“Meg is really such a great, sweet person, and really talented, and deserved all of her success,” The Parent Trap alum said. “I don’t regret anything about my marriage to Meg. We got Jack Quaid out of it, who is really going on to maybe I think eclipse both of us.”
Their son, Jack, has gone on to star in dozens of his own projects, including The Boys, Ithaca and Plus One, as well as voicing characters in Star Trek: Lower Decks and My Adventures with Superman. He’s also set to star in the upcoming film, Companion.
Quaid has been married to Laura Savoie since 2020. He was also previously married to Kimberly Buffington from 2004 to 2018. Ryan hasn’t remarried but was briefly engaged to John Mellencamp from 2018 to 2019.
