Denzel Washington Says ‘Gladiator II’ Is The “Biggest Film” Of His Career
Denzel Washington’s list of blockbuster films he’s starred in is seemingly endless, however, the veteran actor says that Gladiator II is the “biggest” movie production he’s been apart of to date.
Earlier this week, a sizzle reel in anticipation of Gladiator II was released, which features scenes from the film, as well as commentary from its stars. According to Washington, the highly anticpated sequel is nothing short of epic and marks yet another milestone in his career.
“The biggest film I’ve been on,” the 69-year-old said in the promotional clip, which is a lofty claim considering the illustrious career and big budget films he’s appeared in over the past four decades and counting.
“They built the Colosseum! It’s a ride; it’s a spectacle,” the Academy Award winner said of Gladiator II. “Everywhere you turn, you feel like you’re in that world, and I love that.”
Washington is clearly awed by the grandeur of Gladiator II, which is directed by Ridley Scott and takes place 20 years after the original. With a jaw-dropping budget of $250 million, Gladiator II is set to redefine cinematic extravagance.
This colossal investment surpasses the $100 million budgets of Washington’s previous high-profile projects, Unstoppable and The Taking of Pelham, both held, promising an onscreen scale and intensity like never before.
In additon to Washington, the film boasts a star-studded cast including Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, and Joseph Quinn, resulting in Gladiator II not just being a film, but an experience you won’t want to miss.
“I think this is the biggest film I’ve been on.”
