“Desperate Housewives ”actor“ ”James Denton spent 6 weeks on France’s “Dancing With the Stars” — despite not knowing French
The actor suffered an injury early into rehearsals.
James Denton’s France-based dancing journey has officially come to an end. But on the bright side, his relationship with Instagram is just beginning.
On Sunday, the Desperate Housewives actor shared a video thanking fans for their support, days after being eliminated from Danse Avec Les Stars, the French version of Dancing With the Stars. Denton — who has never danced and didn't know any French before joining the show’s cast — was paired with Candice Pascal for his tenure on the series. The duo lost six weeks in, sadly dancing their last dance on the April 12th episode.
“I’m here at the airport, and it seemed like a good time to thank everybody for their support on this crazy adventure,” Denton said in a video, days after their elimination. “I’m heading home today, it was about time. But I hope it was as much fun to follow as it was to do. And big thank you to everyone on the show and to all of you who kept up with it. Au bientot.”
Denton then pointed out that he created his official Instagram account back in February, for the sole purpose of documenting his DALS journey: “Now I have to figure out what the future is for this Instagram account.”
Best known for his Desperate Housewives role as Mike Delfino and as Dr. Sam Radford in Hallmark’s Good Witch TV series, fans can still reflect on Denton's dancing journey via his Instagram profile which includes behind-the-scenes clips of his partnership with Pascal, and such riveting promo material as Denton learning French slang and visiting Barbieland.
In his bio, he describes himself as an “American actor in Paris for the Danse Avec Les Stars experience,” noting that the account marks his “first and only social page.”
Prior to his elimination, Denton tore his hamstring weeks into rehearsal. The "frustrating setback” meant sitting out the first two weeks of Danse Aves Les Stars but by week three, he was recovered and ready to join his fellow contestants.
Reflecting on his decision to join the competition, Denton said in a promo video that he initially turned down the offer but was convinced by his kids to reconsider: “I’m not a dancer, I’ve never danced in my life at all. It was a little bit scary, which is the main reason I decided to do it.”
He added, “I thought hopefully, the French viewers will have fun seeing Mike Delfino. You know, can the plumber dance?”
