Devastating Death Leaves ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Heartbroken
The “Be Still, My Soul” episode of Grey’s Anatomy left Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital heartbroken after the death of Maggie’s mom, Diane.
It was revealed last week that Diane’s breast cancer was more advanced than initially thought, and upon further examination, they found that the tumor had spread to her liver. Desperate to save her mom, Maggie found an aggressive clinical study that she submitted her mother for — even though none of the other doctors thought that was a good idea.
The treatment actually accelerated Diane’s decline, and before they knew it, she was in the hospital with a esophageal tear. With the writing on the wall, Maggie knew her mother was not long for this world. Maggie spent the last moments of her mother’s life painting her nails and listening to her impart wisdom.
While tragic, the death brought the staff closer together, particularly Richard. He paid for Maggie’s dad to be flown to the hospital immediately and buried the hatchet with Miranda. So while the plot was quite sad, there was at least a glimmer of a silver lining.
