Did You Know Bold and the Beautiful’s Romy Park Can Do This?
Captivating Don Diamont’s ruthless Bill Spencer on The Bold and the Beautiful, Romy Park’s character Poppy is full of surprises. Not only that, but the actress herself also has talents that she’s finally revealing to the fans.
Park Is Diligent in Her Work
Romy Park plays the unassuming Penelope “Poppy” Nozawa on B&B, who is constantly badgered and berated by her sister, Li (Naomi Matsuda). She also met Bill (Don Diamont) 20 years ago at a concert where they had a one-night stand that may have resulted in her daughter Luna (Lisa Yamada). Another surprise was that she’d been popping edibles in the form of breath mints that led to disastrous results when Luna accidentally took them, thinking they were regular mints. (Learn more about what effect the edibles had on Luna.)
In a November 14, 2023, interview with Soap Opera Digest, Park explained that when she started playing Poppy, she was scared but found everyone welcomed her. “John McCook [Eric] was one of the first people I met, and he just gave me a hug and said, ‘Don’t be nervous,’ and every single person welcomed me as if I was part of the family,” she said, adding that, “Everyone seems like a family, and that is the case with the cast and the crew.” Park further remarked that she’s always prepared, no matter what the task is. “I will drill something, not until I get it right, but until I can’t get it wrong. Memorizing has never been too difficult for me.”
She Wowed Fans With Her Other Talents
Beyond simple memorization, Park shared a video on Instagram where she’s moving up and down on her toes in the ballet move “en pointe” and is simultaneously singing an opera tune with incredible depth and range. She captioned the video, “#flashbackfriday with @liza.barskaya. ‘Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can’ — Arthur Ashe. It’s been about 20 years since I stopped singing lessons, but 2 months ago I started it up again. (In the video, I was about 4 lessons in. I’ve had 6 now!) I re-started because I’ve always regretted quitting. I didn’t want to live with regret and then think to myself, ‘shoulda, woulda, coulda.’ All (we) have is now.”
She tagged Choreographer Liza Barskaya and quoted famous tennis player Arthur Ashe. Joshua Hoffman, who plays Luna’s love interest and Forrester scion, R.J., enthusiastically responded with, “Damn, that was badass as hell.” Actress Toni Romano also replied, “Grace, woman. Love you.” The fans were no doubt impressed with her skills, as not many people can do ballet and sing opera at the same time!
