Diddy Allegedly Got Wendy Williams Fired From Hot 97 For Claiming He Was Gay
Rumors have surrounded Diddy’s sexuality for several years, and according to Charlamagne Tha God, the mogul is willing to go to great lengths to silence those who perpetuate the narrative that he’s gay or bisexual.
The Breakfast Club host claimed the 54-year-old artist got Wendy Williams fired from Hot 97 for claiming he was gay. Williams allegedly had a photo of the “I Need A Girl” artist being intimate with a man, and was fired from the popular radio station in 1998.
“Wendy’s whole thing was Diddy was gay,” Charlamagne said on Andrew Schulz’ Flagrant podcast. “That’s why Wendy got fired from Hot 97. Wendy got fired from Hot 97 by Diddy ’cause that’s when Bad Boy was smoking hot. She got fired for putting that out there.”
Gene Deal, Puff’s former security guard, spoke on the situation in 2022. “The power [Diddy] had with the radio stations in New York, motherf**kers didn’t breathe hard if [Diddy] didn’t want them to,” he told The Art Of Dialogue. “[Diddy] got one of the hottest DJs off Hot 97 because she wanted to put up a picture of him getting his pants pulled down.”
Charlamagne speaks on Diddy allegedly having sexual relations with actor Reginald VelJohnson, who played Carl Winslow on "Family Matters," and confirms that Diddy got Wendy Williams fired from Hot 97 in 1998 for claiming he’s gay.

“[Diddy] told Hot 97 if they didn’t get rid of her before he got back in New York, that they was not going to get any music from any of his friends, any of the record labels executives that was cool with him,” Gene Deal continued to recall. “Everyone was going to boycott their station.”
Homosexuality rumors heated up most recently after Lil Rod, a producer on The Love Album: Off The Grid, filed a sexual assault lawsuit against Puff. He claimed that the former REVOLT chairman groped him, tried to force him to have sex with Stevie J, and made him work on music in the bathroom while he showered.
Usher and Meek Mill were also named in the lawsuit as the former Making The Band star’s former sexual partners, though the latter denied the claims. Comedian Luce Cannon also claimed that Puff had sex with actor Reginald VelJohnson, popularly known as Carl Winslow from Family Matters.
While Diddy’s sexuality remains cloudy, his violent history was put on full display this month. CNN released footage of the mogul assaulting Cassie at a now-closed Los Angeles hotel in 2016. The father of seven can be seen grabbing his former partner by the neck, throwing her to the ground, kicking her twice, and gathering her belongings all while wearing just a white towel around his waist.
He released an apology video that weekend, but was panned for not addressing Cassie directly; it was later revealed that their November 2023 settlement included a strict NDA forbidding them from publicly saying each other’s names.
This week, Rolling Stone released a scathing report documenting six months of investigation into the entirety of the controversial artist’s life. They learned of his alleged misconduct with women when he was a student at Howard University, specifically touching a woman without consent, harassing a woman while she was in class, and yelling at his then-girlfriend to leave her dormitory before being seen “whooping” her with a belt.
Bad Boy for Life. A six-month investigation by Rolling Stone.
For decades, Sean “Diddy” Combs was hip-hop’s boisterous showman. Now, dozens of former friends, employees, and Bad Boy artists allege an abusive, violent figure behind the facade.
