Last Friday (May 17), CNN released footage of Sean “Diddy” Combs physically assaulting Cassie Ventura at a hotel in 2016, and countless people have shared their reactions to the disturbing clip. Although many were shocked by the surfaced video, Diddy’s former head of security, Roger Bonds, said he “wasn’t surprised” because of the mogul’s previous pattern of being violent towards women.

“It didn’t surprise me when I saw it because I’ve seen things to this nature before,” the bodyguard told Piers Morgan in an interview late Monday (May 20). “I’ve seen him [be violent] with Cassie and I’ve seen him with Kim Porter, his kid’s mother,” Bond added of the late model and mother of three of Diddy’s children.

He also recalled having to step in and alleviate similar scenarios before the 2016 incident, continuing, “I’ve gotten in between things of this nature before — and this was back in 2012.”

Bonds then recalled how many times he had to step in when Diddy become violent towards women, revealing, “Around four or five times… I’ve seen him get physical. I’ve seen him get really physical, grab them up. I’ve seen him get into some wrestling and punching matches and sometimes I felt like, ‘What are you mad at? What are you upset about?’”

The footage CNN obtained and shared is a surveillance video from March 5, 2016. The clip begins with Cassie carrying a bag down the hallway of the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles, and heading to the elevators. Combs catches up to her, grabs her by the back of the neck, and throws her to the floor. He then turns around and kicks Ventura again as she lies motionless. As the video continues, the Bad Boy founder drags her into the hallway and is later seen throwing a glass vase at her.

The video corroborates the “Me & U” singer’s claims made in her bombshell November 2023 lawsuit, where she accused Diddy of rape, physical and mental abuse, sexual battery, sexual assault, and more.

Diddy has since reacted to the footage in an apology video posted on Instagram on Sunday. “It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life,” he said. “Sometimes you gotta do that. I was f**ked up. I mean, I hit rock bottom but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it, I’m disgusted now.”

Cassie’s attorney has also shared a statement about the video and Diddy’s apology, deeming the latter as “disingenuous.” “Combs’ most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt,” Meredith Firetog, a partner at Wigdor LLP, stated. “When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday. That he was only compelled to ‘apologize’ once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words.”
