Diddy’s Legal Woes Spark Controversial Halloween Costumes
The charges and allegations against Diddy are very serious, but that is not everyone’s consensus. Vendors are reportedly pushing Halloween costumes depicting the 54-year-old artist, despite him being behind bars for racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and more.
TMZ published an article on Wednesday (Oct. 16) describing various small businesses and their new apparel inspired by the Bad Boy founder. Throughout the last year, he was referred to as the “Diddler,” a play on The Riddler from Batman; one small business created a shirt with Puff dressed in the same green attire as The Riddler while holding a bottle of baby oil. The baby oil is a reference to the over 1000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant that the federal government found in his homes.
There are also shirts floating around that reimagined that signature Johnson’s baby oil design, but having “Diddy’s” written in place of Johnson’s. Another creator took the cover art of the 2001 video game Luigi’s Mansion and replaced it with “Diddy’s Mansion” and a photo of the controversial mogul.
Another small business seems to be selling face coverings with Diddy’s smiling face on the front because one TikTok user posted a video of himself wearing one and wielding a bottle of baby oil. “How I’m pulling up to everyone’s Halloween party in 2024,” they wrote in the caption. While this may seem humorous to some and get the social media engagement they desire, the backstory is no laughing matter.
Diddy was arrested in September and remains behind bars after being denied bail on multiple occasions. And even with his future not looking so bright given the charges and allegations against him, it seems like there is more to come. Tony Buzbee, a Houston-based attorney, revealed that he is representing 120 clients who will pursue civil litigation against the producer for sex crimes. He also opened up a hotline which received over 12,000 calls in 24 hours.
