Who Dies in Cobra Kai? A Devastating Ending Sets the Stage for the Final Episodes

Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 2 ended with a devasting death that sets the state for the show’s final episodes. The season, which is set to be the show’s last, consists of 15 episodes, which Netflix has divided into three par. That means that we still have five more episodes of Cobra Kai to go to deal with what happened at the end of Part 2. We even have a date for them, the final five episodes of Cobra Kai are set to premiere February 13, 2025.

Despite being a continuation of The Karate Kid and ostensibly a show about rival karate dojos and the fact that there have been plenty of fights—some that have looked really bad for our protagonists, Cobra Kai hasn’t really been the type of show to kill off many characters. At least, not many important ones. In fact, the show has relied mostly on nostalgia up to this point, and nostalgia necessitates keeping old characters alive. In fact, they’ve brought back a lot of characters from the original movies to capitalize on just that.

Season 6 of the Netflix drama, however, delivers a few blows for fans by killing not one, but two characters. Only one of those characters dies in a karate-related incident, but that’s still a lot more than the show has given us so far. So, who dies in Cobra Kai? And what does their deaths mean for the last five episodes of the show?

Who dies in Cobra Kai?

Kwon Jae-Sung

Kwon makes his first appearance in Season 6, as the top student in the now-revived Cobra Kai dojo in South Korea. He serves as the secondary antagonist in Season 6 of Cobra Kai.

His death happens in the last few moments of Season 6, Part 2. Kown is fighting Axel Kovacevic and having an almost impossible time getting the best of him. That makes him increasingly frustrated, and after Axel shoves him down near the end of the last hour, Kwon finds a knife on the ground and decides to use it against his opponent. Of course, Axel doesn’t just stand there, he defends himself and that results in Kwon falling on the knife and impaling himself.

As the arena falls silent, tournament organizers arrive and ask the cameraman to cut the feed, bringing Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 2 to an end.

Grace Nichols

Tori’s mom is the first and perhaps most tragic death of Season 6 of Cobra Kai, particularly considering what her loss does to Tory. Grace, who was battling cancer, was shown to be bedridden during the course of the show, making Tory the family’s sole provider. There’s a point in Season 6, however, where it seems like she will get better, with the doctor even giving Tory a modified prescription for her. However, when Tory returns home from preparing for the Sekai Taikai Tournament, she finds her mom unresponsive.

It is later revealed that she passed away due to a pulmonary embolism.

Tommy

Another important character who died during the run of Cobra Kai was Tommy, Johnny’s friend. The character, who was part of the Cobra Kai gang during The Karate Kid days, appeared in Cobra Kai Season 2. When we see him on the show he’s hospitalized and dying of cancer. His friends Johnny, Jimmy, and Bobby break him out of the hospital so they can all take camping trip up to Big Bear Lake. Tommy then dies in his sleep overnight.

Even more tragically, Cobra Kai actor Rob Garrison, who played Tommy, passed away the same year.
