The six-episode second season finds Russell’s Ambassador Kate Wyler and her team at the U.S. embassy in the U.K. dealing with the fallout from an explosion at the end of season one that leaves Kate’s husband Hal (Rufus Sewell) injured and trying to figure out who in the U.K. government might be involved in the attack on a British warship at the beginning of the series.

Season two also introduces Allison Janney as Vice President Grace Penn, whom Kate is being considered to replace.

Production on season three is currently underway and will take place in New York and London.

While viewers have yet to see what happens in season two (beyond a teaser, trailer and first-look images), showrunner and creator Debora Cahn teased tied to the renewal that, “Season 3 flips the chessboard. Kate lives the particular nightmare that is getting what you want.”

In addition to Russell and Sewell, the series stars David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear and Ato Essandoh.

Cahn and Russell executive produce alongside Janice Williams and Alex Graves.
