Directive 8020 Trailer Reveals Lashana Lynch Horror Game in Dark Pictures Series
During the Gamescom preshow, a new Directive 8020 trailer was shown revealing actress Lashana Lynch as the star for the next Dark Pictures entry.
What is the Directive 8020?
Developed by Supermassive Games, Directive 8020 is the next entry in the Dark Pictures series. Starring Lashana Lynch as the astronaut Young, the upcoming game features the expected branching narrative storyline along with new stealth mechanics, and real time threats. The game is powered by Unreal Engine 5.
In Directive 8020, Earth is dying and humanity is seeking a new place to call home. A planet twelve light years away seems to be the perfect planet to colonize. However, when the colony ship Cassiopeia crash lands on the planet, the crew realizes it was too good to be true. Here are more details about the game’s story according to Supermassive Games.
“Hunted by an alien organism capable of mimicking its prey, the crew of the Cassiopeia must outwit their pursuers to make it home alive. As they battle to survive, they are confronted with the hardest choice of all: to save themselves, they must risk the lives of everyone on Earth.”
Lashana Lynch has starred in many high profile films, including Bob Marley: One Love, No Time to Die, and The Woman King. Marvel fans may know her as Maria Rambeau from the MCU films The Marvels, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Captain Marvel. She will star in the upcoming Peacock series Day of the Jackal with Eddie Redmayne.
Directive 8020 was originally teased at the end of The Devil in Me, the 2022 Dark Pictures game starring Jessie Buckley. It is considered the final entry of the first season of the Dark Pictures anthology. Previous games include Man of Medan, Little Hope, and House of Ashes.
Directive 8020 is slated to launch in 2025 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
