Chilling new 'Frozen II' trailer sees Elsa and Anna facing unknown dangers
“Quick question. Is the whole putting us in mortal danger going to be a regular thing?” That’s Olaf the snowman’s quote in the newest peek at Disney’s Frozen II, and it sums up the trailer nicely.
Disney has released three trailers to date for the animated sequel, which hits theaters on Nov. 22, and the latest one hints that this story will have a darker edge. Sisters Elsa (Idina Menzel) and Anna (Kristen Bell) navigate their way into the mysterious enchanted forest hinted at in their childhood (“it was a magical place, but something went wrong”), and along the way discover that Elsa’s magic powers just might be stronger than anyone realized.
Elsa is tormented by the sound of a strange voice that causes her to act out of character. She is told by the Troll King that “the kingdom is not safe — find who is calling to you, they may have answers.” Concerned for the future of Arendelle, Elsa heeds this advice and prepares to set off into the unknown.
Of course, Anna is not about to let her sister embark on this journey alone, nor are beloved characters Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), Olaf (Josh Gad) and Sven the reindeer. The action-packed trailer promises a distinctly ominous plot, which should be well-suited for the more sophisticated tastes of children who have aged six years since the 2013 original.
Frozan II reunites the directing team of Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee. Joining the cast are new voices Sterling K. Brown and Evan Rachel Wood. There’s still no reveal of any new music, so fans hankering after another “Let It Go” will likely have to let that go until the film’s release.
