Disney villains take over U.S. postage stamps

Let your Disney villain flag fly. To coincide with the D23 Expo, a three-day-long convention for Disney aficionados in California, the U.S. Postal Service is putting the likes of Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians, and Hook from Peter Pan on a new sheet of Forever stamps.

“The Postal Service is highlighting the Disney villains and the pioneering spirit of the Ink and Paint Department that brought many of these characters to life,” Postmaster General Megan J. Brennan said. “These Forever stamps are our way of saying Disney villains will forever entertain us and serve as a tribute Disney’s artistry and storytelling skill.”

Also included among the 10 stamps (20 on a sheet) are the evil queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, the wicked stepmother from Cinderella, Honest John from Pinocchio, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, and Scar from The Lion King.

The stamps will be dedicated during D23 on Saturday. Each one sells for 49 cents, the same price as other Forever stamps, or customers can purchase the 20-stamp sheet for $9.80.
