Disney's Stargirl gets a sequel starring Uma Thurman
Legendary Kill Bill and Batman & Robin actress Uma Thurman has been added the cast of the newly-announced Stargirl sequel.
Now, we need to point out that we're not on about the DC teen superhero show Stargirl, although that would have been good, with Thurman starring in My Super Ex-Girlfriend.
We're on about the teen musical-themed film that launched exclusively on Disney+, starring Grace VanderWaal and Graham Verchere.
We at Digital Spy didn't *love* the film, calling it "a pastiche of quirk, which stands in for depth, stitched together by musical numbers that feel overdone the first time, and beaten to death the second". But you know, that leaves a lot of room for improvement in the sequel, especially if they listen specifically to our review.
The Hollywood Reporter, who broke the news of the casting, states that Thurman will play Roxanne Martel, a musician who Stargirl looks up to and eventually bumps into as she starts making waves in the world of music.
The sequel will also see actor Elijah Richardson and composer/musician Michael Penn join, providing acting and original songs, respectively.
Thurman and Quentin Tarantino have been talking about a third Kill Bill movie again in the last few years, with the plot apparently focusing on one of the Deadly Vipers' kids seeking revenge on Thurman's Beatrix Kiddo.
Spider-Man and The Greatest Showman star Zendaya has been linked to that role, and while she'd be up for it, it's sadly just conjecture at this point.
