DJ Envy Takes Unpopular Stance In Diddy Racketeering, Sex Trafficking Case
Diddy doesn’t have too many people willing to publicly defend him ever since he was arrested for racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, whether it be due to the severity of his charges, or fear of being viewed as involved in his alleged acts.
DJ Envy, however, has recently defended the controversial mogul, specifically from how he is viewed by the public and the terms of his arrest.
“I will say this: Diddy’s a freak ni**a,” The Breakfast Club host told his wife, Gia Casey, on the latest episode of The Casey Crew. The couple agreed that there is nothing wrong with being a freaky person and Envy specifically said there was nothing illegal about him possessing over 1000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant.
“Now, the one thing I will say that I don’t like is I don’t like how people–I mean everybody is going to crack a joke, it is what it is,” he added. “I don’t like how people convict him before hearing all of the evidence. I don’t like the fact that they didn’t give him a bond.” The veteran DJ highlighted how his children will be without both of their parents for an extended period, with his ex-girlfriend Kim Porter passing away in 2018. He also cited that Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, and OJ Simpson were all given bonds.
“In this society, it feels like you’re guilty and you have to prove yourself innocent,” DJ Envy stated. “But it should be the other way, it should be ‘innocent until proven guilty.’ Now, the stories that I’m hearing, like I said, I don’t know. Hopefully soon we’ll see evidence, but I do think it’s sad that somebody with such a great legacy is destroyed because of the things that they did.”
He reiterated that if Diddy did do what he is accused of, then he should go to jail for a long time. “Absolutely, positively,” he asserted. “Not even looking back, he should f**king go to jail, but we’ll see.” He then asked his wife how the allegations affected her enjoyment of Puff’s music; she set the question aside so she could express her disagreement with his point about Diddy deserving to be given bond so he could care for his children.
“I don’t think that has anything to do with it,” Gia Casey said. “There’s a lot of people that commit crimes that their home life is not all sewn up. That’s not a factor. If I’m a judge, that’s not a factor. Hopefully you have family that can step in in your absence. I’m more so just leaning to what’s fair because I don’t believe in anyone being convicted until they’re proven guilty.”
The Art Of Dialogue X account shared this clip, and one fan suggested that DJ Envy was defending Diddy because he previously attended his parties, where the “freak offs” allegedly took place. “Hollywood and the music industry need a reset. We deserve much better than these people,” another user wrote.
