DJ Kay Slay Honored With Hour-Long “Rolling 200 Deep” Posse Cut
DJ Kay Slay has been honored with a massive, hour-long posse-cut featuring 200 rap artists paying tribute to his life and legacy. Titled “Rolling 200 Deep,” the song is 62 minutes in length and includes features from Snoop Dogg, Run DMC, Big Daddy Kane, Ice-T and dozens of other rap luminaries from across the country and beyond.
After a brief intro, Sheek Louch sets the proceedings off before the mic gets passed around to each emcee, with Bun B, Millyz, Dave East, Jim Jones, AZ, Sha Rock, Freeway, and Maino among the earliest contributors. Other big names that appear on the song include Paul Wall, Grand Master Caz, Large Professor, Cee-Lo Green, DJ Paul, Skyzoo, Layzie Bone, KRS-One, and E-40.
Spread across 16 tracks and released alongside an accompanying music video, “Rolling Deep 200” marks the fourth installment in Kay Slay’s long-running series, which began in 2005 with “Rolling 25 Deep.” The DJ also previously released “Rolling 50 Deep” in 2020 and “Rolling 110 Deep” the following year.
In August, DJ Kay Slay was honored with his own street in his native city of Harlem, N.Y., at East 105th Street and 1st Avenue. The unveiling of the street signage took place one day before what would’ve been the DJ’s 57th birthday and was attended by 50 Cent, LL COOL J, Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Tony Yayo, and more.
DJ Kay Slay passed away in April 2022 following a fatal battle with COVID-19.
