Doc Robinson to launch tour with Columbus 'hometown party' on Oct. 4
Columbus-spawned band Doc Robinson, whose music has been heard in “The Walking Dead” and “BoJack Horseman,” will play both familiar tunes and debut new ones when they appear at Newport Music Hall on Oct. 4.
The genre-bending indie act will be supported at the show by another Columbus musician, Angela Perley.
Tickets range from $20-$45 and are available at promowestlive.com/columbus.
Defining their sound as “backyard barbecue breakup music," Doc Robinson has played extensively on the local club and festival circuit, including opening for Sheryl Crow at the 2018 Dublin Independence Day celebration.
The band is touring in support of their upcoming album, “Joyride.” Due out in October, the album marks a detour from Doc Robinson’s previous releases, which were primarily conceived and produced by the band’s principal songwriters. However, they wrote and recorded “Joyride” as a band, creating and orchestrating parts live together in the studio.

Two singles from “Joyride” dropped earlier this year: “Shake My Shadow” and “Outta My Mind.” A third song, “Save Us” is due out later this month. Doc Robinson will be sharing tracks from the new album at the Newport show, which is being called a "hometown party."
Supporting act Perley, a staple of the Natalie’s Grandview stages for many years, has played at venues from dive bars to arenas, including an opening gig for Lucinda Williams in 2017.

The singer’s style is described as “rooted in cosmic alt-country, roadhouse rock 'n' roll, witchy-woman psychedelia and amplified Americana.”
Perley was among the local artists whose profiles were boosted by airplay on CD 92.9 FM. She performed at the station's farewell party in January.
