Doctor Odyssey’s Joshua Jackson Teases ‘Plastic Surgery Week’ Drama, Plus a Big Reveal
Did Singles Week leave you itching for more themed cruises on ABC’s Doctor Odyssey? Well, buckle up for the over-the-top affair that is Plastic Surgery Week.
But wait, plastic surgery at sea? How do they even think of this? Joshua Jackson, who stars as Dr. Max, tells TVLine that while some of the Doctor Odyssey cruises “may seem outlandish,” every themed week is based on actual cruise culture! So while the entire premise of Max’s life on The Odyssey might (might!) be a fever dream, at least the weekly excursions are rooted in reality.

“This is actually a real thing,” Joshua Jackson tells TVLine ahead of Episode 3 (airing Thursday at 9/8c). “People get plastic surgery, and then they go on a cruise to recover. We are there to manage their health care as they recover from the procedures that they’ve already had done.”
Our Plastic Surgery Week predictions? One ruptured silicone breast implant, two cases of migrated lip filler and perhaps a few botched rhinoplasties. (Plus, because of series co-creator Ryan Murphy’s documented relationship with the Kardashians, maybe something inspired by whatever happened to Kris Jenner’s lip back in Season 7 of Keeping Up With the Kardashians?)
In addition to the usual medical chaos aboard The Odyssey, Jackson says Episode 3 will feature a different kind of dynamic between our three protagonists.
“The love triangle is not at the forefront of that episode,” he reveals. Instead, Jackson says, we will “learn something very important about Sean [Teale’s]’s character,” Nurse Tristan Silva.
Jackson adds that Plastic Surgery Week dives deeper into the “development of the relationship of the three people rather than the competition over the romantic relationship, the competition between the two men over Avery (Phillipa Soo).” Because what better way to bond than over botox?
