Doechii And JT Are Unfazed, Unbothered, And Unf**kwithable In “Alter Ego” Music Video
Doechii and JT take it to the swamp in “Alter Ego.” The single, led by Doechii, brings the two Florida rappers together for the ultimate carefree anthem.
“We’re officially on the way to the swamp” reveals Doechii as she walks outdoors in the music video. “If you’ve never been to the swamp you should visit. It’s better than a resort, better than a spa, better than the city. And, you can do whatever the f**k you want, it’s no laws.”
The visual, directed by Omar Jones, then pans to Doechii standing tall in the middle of muddy waters. Throughout the video, the Top Dawg Entertainment artist commands and protects the swamp, standing armed in daisy dukes. JT emerges ” Unfazed, Unbothered, Unf**kwithable,” from a trailer to deliver her sharp verse. The City Girls rapper also appears in a giant nest as if she’s freshly hatched, nude and glistening wet.
Doechii declares 2024 the “year of the swamp” as the track closes, signaling a new era in her music career, and possibly a new album. “Alter Ego” follows the songs “Stressed,” “What It Is (Block Boy),” which has a version featuring Kodak Black, “Universal Swamp Anthem,” “Booty Drop,” and “Pacer.”
Her last project, the EP she / her / black b**ch, was issued in 2022, and features Rico Nasty, SZA, and Jst Ray across five tracks.
“A dark-skinned girl like me, I’m doing a whole lot better than people expect me to. As far as boxes and shit, I don’t do that. I jump from genre to genre,” detailed Doechii to JT in their conversation published by Interview Magazine earlier this year.
“I’ll be making a rock song, then I make a pop song, then I make this, that, and the third. I don’t think I have to be super deep in all of my songs, but I also don’t have to be superficial all the time either. It’s a balance.”
