When does 'Twisters' come out? Oklahoma-made film starring Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones
The new Oklahoma-made "Twisters" film is set to hit theaters soon, with a brand new cast as opposed to the original 1996 movie starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton.
Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, the film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos.
The film is about Kate Cooper (Edgar-Jones) who is helping her friend Javi (Ramos) test a new tracking system, despite trauma from a past tornado encounter. In the process, she ends up meeting Tyler Owens (Powell), a social-media star who posts his storm-chasing adventures. The storm intensifies and Kate, Tyler and the rest of the crew fight for their lives as danger takes over central Oklahoma.

When does 'Twister 2' come out?
Although just titled "Twisters" instead of "Twister 2," the new film starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell is a sequel to the cult classic film "Twister." None of the original cast members will return for "Twisters."
The movie will also follow a new story and characters but seems to have similar plot themes and is set in Oklahoma.
The movie "Twisters" will be out on Friday, July 19, with earlier showings on Thursday, July 18.
Where was 'Twisters' filmed?
Throughout 60 days of principal photography, "Twisters" engaged with multiple communities statewide, including El Reno, Chickasha, Midwest City, Spencer, Kingfisher, Calumet, Hinton, Fairview, Okarche, Kremlin, Burbank and Pawhuska.
In addition to the state’s film program, the production also used local film incentives administered by the newly launched Oklahoma City Film & Creative Industries Office as well as certified soundstage infrastructure at downtown OKC's Prairie Surf Studios, which served as the primary base camp throughout filming.
Principal photography on "Twisters" got underway in Oklahoma City on May 8, 2023. The film had an estimated budget of $200 million.

4DX movie theaters to see Twisters
When "Twisters" hits theaters, several moviegoers will catch the film in 4D, an immersive format that can include motion-enabled chairs, flashing lights, fog, wind and scents to convey weather experiences.
In the Oklahoma City area, Regal Warren in Moore offers 4DX showings of "Twisters," with showings starting July 18.
Similarly, Tulsa Starworld 20 will offer "Twisters" in MX4D starting July 18.
