All-Dog Nativity Scene Is the Must-See Photo of the Week
Sweet baby Jesus, that’s a doggone adorable nativity scene!
The photo above, posted to Facebook on Dec. 7 by Wags to Riches Pet Services of Mountsorrel, Leicestershire, in the U.K., quickly caught on fire with Twitter and Reddit users across the Internet.
Jo Kingston, who runs the dog-focused business, told the BBC people on social media had “gone bonkers” over the image.
A woman named RachMcV on Twitter is partially responsible for the outpouring of attention. She posted the photo and wrote, “That’s it, my heart has burst a dog kennel nativity.”
That tweet, to date, has garnered more than 87,000 likes and 31,000 retweets, although RachMcV was erroneous in identifying the location of the dogs.
Kingston, the owner of Wags to Riches, told the BBC, “I woke up and somebody tagged me in this photo saying, ‘Jo, you’ve gone viral.’ ”
She told the BBC that the picture was “easy” to take “as long as you’ve got food and you’ve got the right dogs … I’d seen it on the Internet before, I’m not the first to do it.”
“I didn’t expect this at all,” added Kingston, but clearly she had some sense of why the image is so popular.
“People love seeing the dogs — especially with towels on their heads.”
It’s the latest in a string of animal-themed nativity scenes, including this all-puppy set-up in Virginia and a rogue cat joining the manger in New York City.
