Dog the Bounty Hunter's daughter Cecily to wear late mom Beth's dress at her upcoming wedding
Cecily Chapman is still in the early stages of planning her 2021 wedding to fiancé Matty, but the one aspect that’s locked in is the garment she’ll be wearing: the very dress that her late mother, Beth Chapman, wore in 2006 as she wed Cecily’s dad, Duane “Dog” Chapman.
“It’s a way for me to feel like she is with me the whole time and be a part of the wedding,” Chapman told the U.S. Sun in an interview she promoted last week on social media. “It’s a big deal for me. I spoke to her while she was alive and told her I wanted the dress — I think I said that to her a couple of years after the wedding.”
Beth died of cancer on June 26, 2019. She was 51. Cecily, 27, is one of four adult children shared by Duane and Beth. She was born to Beth and her previous husband but adopted by the former star of A&E’s Dog the Bounty Hunter.
Cecily, who regularly pays tribute to her mom on social media, said she always wanted to wear Beth’s wedding dress when she eventually wed, because her mom “looked so beautiful” in it. “I will have to alter it a little bit — especially the top bit —my boobs aren’t as big as Beth’s were.”
She explained that she plans to hand off the dress to younger sister Bonnie.
"As for my dad,” Cecily explained, “I’m sure it will be super emotional for him seeing me wear the dress but he understands what it means to me.”
Cecily and Matty plan to wed in Hawaii, where they’ve been living after getting engaged at Christmas in 2018. Ideally, they will tie the knot at Halloween or Christmas.
“We’re waiting for the whole COVID thing to calm down but if it comes to it we’ll just have a private wedding,” Cecily explained, adding that she refuses to wear a mask as her dad walks her down the aisle.
Dog is waiting for the pandemic to end, too, so that he can marry Francie Frane. The two began dating in the spring and got engaged in May while living together in quarantine.
