Dolly Parton is switching gears with a new career project—but don't worry, she's still keeping it within the music industry.

Even though she's retired from touring, the country music legend still wants to give fans the opportunity to witness her music performed live. That's why she is creating a new "multimedia symphonic story-telling experience," expected to kickoff in 2025.

On Tuesday, May 21, Parton and her team announced "Dolly Parton's Threads: My Songs in Symphony," which will begin with a tour date with the Nashville Symphony on March 20, 2025.

According to Variety, the new project will feature "Dolly's songs and the stories behind them in an innovative multimedia symphonic experience featuring Dolly on screen, leading audiences in a visual-musical journey of her songs, her life and her stories."

The show will feature the orchestras "accompanied by guest vocalists and musicians" to perform "new and innovative orchestrations" of the signature music Parton is known and loved for.

The news comes just a couple of years after the "9 to 5" singer said she was done performing her own concerts on the road, stating in a 2022 magazine interview that she had no plans to "ever tour again."

But this new project will allow Parton to still bring her music to audiences everywhere, doing so in a whole new, creative fashion.

“I’m just so excited to share my songs and the stories behind them in this beautiful new way," the 78-year-old country queen said in a statement, calling the new show "a journey through the heartstrings of my life."

"I hope we can take it far and wide to symphony orchestras everywhere," she added.

Following the first show in Nashville in 2024, more dates for "Dolly Parton's Threads: My Songs in Symphony" are expected to follow in a slew of other cities with local orchestras, Variety reports.
