Dolph Lundgren Got Arnold’s Blessing for ‘Kindergarten Cop 2,’ Sort Of
Dolph Lundgren stars in Kindergarten Cop 2, the sequel to the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger classic, Kindergarten Cop. Lundgren stopped by our studios and talked about how he was hesitant about the project at first because he didn’t want to step on Schwarzenegger’s toes.
“I told my agent, ‘I don’t want to mess with Arnold’s thing. It’s kind of his gig from the beginning, and he’s a friend of mine,’” Lundgren said. “But then I read the script, and the script was really funny. I was laughing out loud. It was a cool story. It was different than the original. Arnold was cool with it, he was very supportive, and I had a great time.”
But it turns out that Lundgren didn’t have a chance to talk to Schwarzenegger before he shot the movie. It wasn’t until after the film was made that Lundgren was able to touch base with his The Expendables co-star.
“We talked a little bit about it after it was done,” Lundgren admitted. “I didn’t have time before to talk to him, but I assumed he wasn’t going to beat me up or anything.”
Kindergarten Cop 2 is available on video today.
