Dominic West Channels King Charles at the 2024 Emmys
There's no better way to channel a character than by showing up on the red carpet in an evening look based on their style. Take Town & Country's November 2022 digital cover star Dominic West, for example.
At the Emmy Awards, West isn't letting the California warmth get to him. He chose to wear a dark brown velvet jacket with tailored pants. The actor accessorized with a matching brown silk bowtie and a multi-color pocket square poking out of the left breast pocket. (Nevermind his phone that he's holding in some of the pictures.) Interestingly, many of West's style choices mimic those made by the character he plays in The Crown. King Charles is often seen sporting a double-breasted jacket. West's velvet jacket tonight is double-breasted. Pocket squares, too, are frequent accessories in King Charle's wardrobe. Could this be method acting (after the fact, that is)?
West is is nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in The Crown. In the long-running Netflix series, he plays a middle-aged Prince Charles, who is quite the dandy himself. (See the Prince of Wales Check?) The series paints this picture well: Dominic West is often seen sporting well-tailored double-breasted suits, finely pressed ties, and, even, the royal's signature Scottish kilt. This evening marks Dominic West's first Emmy nomination.
