Dominic West Picks Up First Ever Emmy Nomination For ‘The Crown’; One of Six Actors Nominated Including Imelda Staunton
The Crown‘s swansong season has seen a first ever Emmy nomination for Dominic West, who played the then-Prince Charles, while Imelda Staunton is one of five other Crown stars given a nod.
Netflix’s smash royal saga has been nominated in 19 categories including Outstanding Drama Series where it will compete against Fallout, The Gilded Age, The Morning Show, Mr & Mrs. Smith, Sho?gun, Slow Horses and 3 Body Problem. West and Staunton are nominated alongside Elizabeth Debicki, Lesley Manville and Jonathan Pryce. Claire Foy, meanwhile, is nominated as Outstanding Guest Actress for her return as the ghost of a younger Queen Elizabeth II. Foy played the Queen in the show’s first two seasons.

West has starred in the likes of The Wire and The Affair but has never been nominated for an Emmy until now.
Starring the likes of West, Staunton, Debicki and Manville, the sixth and final season of Left Bank’s The Crown was released in two volumes and charted the years 1997 to 2005. Filming began just prior to the death of Queen Elizabeth II, which led West’s character to become King. The series has been one of Netflix’s most successful outside the U.S. since the streamer launched, a dynastic re-telling that lasted across seven years and was paired with huge investment. Earlier this year it picked up eight BAFTA TV nominations, although failed to bring any home.
The Crown has been nominated for 87 Emmys and won 21 down the years. Debicki was nommed for Supporting Actress in 2023 and the show was also up for Outstanding Drama Series.
The Emmy nominations have just been released. The awards are on Sunday, September 15 the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, airing live at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT on ABC.
