Don Cheadle Said That Kevin Hart Interview Moment Isn’t What It Seems

A reading from the Book of Being a Decent Human: Thou shall not disrespect Don Cheadle.

Don Cheadle—the actor who's given us brilliant performances in Hotel Rwanda, Black Monday, a handful of Marvel films and much, much more—is a national treasure. Today, I'm sorry to report that our collective covenant with Cheadle was broken by none other than Kevin Hart. Cheadle jumped on a recent episode of Hart's talk show, Peacock's Hart to Heart. The two were mid-banter when Cheadle casually mentioned his age—56 years old, no biggie—and Hart blurted out: "DAMN!"

In the moment, Cheadle didn't seem too happy about Hart's interjection, so much that the usually-all-hyped Hart sobered up and said, "It was a thought, and I blurted it out. I did not mean it that way." Cheadle responded, "We'll take a poll on how you meant it with people here later after the show's over," trailing off before Hart apologized again. What followed was an extremely bizarre debate of the multiple uses and implications of the word damn. For what it's worth, Cheadle took to social media to remind people that he's been buddies with Hart for a long time. When someone asked him on Twitter what was going through his mind at that moment, he replied, "that @KevinHart4real and i need to do a movie together asap! i think this is my favorite interview ever. 'damn!'"

Cheadle: All class. We'd expect nothing else from him. So we'll say it. For all of you out here reading this, let this be a lesson to take into your weekend: Never disrespect Don Cheadle.
