Donald Trump: BuzzFeed, HuffPo Layoffs Caused By “Fake News And Bad Journalism”
President Donald Trump sent federal workers back to work this week allegedly out of sympathy for their payless plight. But he had little emotional support left for the journalists laid off this week by BuzzFeed and the Huffington Post.
In an afternoon tweet, Trump predicted other news organizations would soon follow the layoff path.

“Ax falls quickly at BuzzFeed and Huffpost!” Headline, New York Post. Fake News and bad journalism have caused a big downturn. Sadly, many others will follow. The people want the Truth!”
BuzzFeed let go about 15 percent of its staffers, while HuffPost laid off around 20 journalists.
The affected media personnel fired back via Twitter.
BuzzFeed News Editor-in-Chief Ben Smith called the Trump tweet a “disgusting” reaction.
“What a disgusting thing to say about dozens of American workers who just lost their jobs,” he tweeted.
HuffPo editor-in-Chief Lydia Polgreen also responded.
“1,000 journalists lost their jobs last week. Ordinary people with rent to pay, families to support, student loan bills coming due. They are workers like any other who do not deserve this cruelty,” she tweeted.
