Donald Trump Faces Backlash for Using AI-Generated Photos of Taylor Swift
Donald J. Trump is using AI-generated images to make people think that Taylor Swift is endorsing his presidential campaign—and Swifties are most definitely not having it.
On Sunday, Aug. 18, the 78-year-old Republican nominee posted a series of altered photos on the social media platform Truth Social of women wearing "Swifties for Trump" T-shirts—along with a screenshot of a headline (clearly labeled "satire") which read "Swifties Turning to Trump After ISIS Foiled Taylor Swift Concert."
Also included in the post was a fake poster featuring Swift as Uncle Sam with the text "Taylor Wants You to Vote for Donald Trump."
"I accept!" Trump wrote in his caption.

On X, commenters pointed out that Swift wouldn't get behind a Donald Trump presidency, encouraging the singer to take legal action.
"people know she would NEVER endorse this," wrote one person.
"taylor swift should sue him," commented a second X user.
While Swift has yet to endorse a candidate for the 2024 presidential election, she supported Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in 2020. In May of that year, she spoke out against Trump on X (then Twitter).
"After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence?" she wrote. "‘When the looting starts the shooting starts’??? We will vote you out in November. @realdonaldtrump."

Swift also took to Instagram on Oct. 7, 2020, to show her support for Biden and Harris, sharing a photo of herself holding a giant platter of "Biden/Harris 2020" cookies.
"I spoke to @vmagazine about why I’ll be voting for Joe Biden for president. So apt that it’s come out on the night of the VP debate. Gonna be watching and supporting @kamalaharris by yelling at the tv a lot. And I also have custom cookies ??????," Swift wrote in her caption.
