Donald Trump Makes Rare Comments About Son Barron’s Personal Life
Former President Donald Trump doesn’t often talk about his youngest son Barron Trump, 18, who he shares with wife Melania Trump (unless it benefits him politically, that is). But the 78-year-old shared rare details about Barron’s personal life in a new interview, which was full of praise for the NYU student.
On Patrick Bet-David’s PBD Podcast, the Republican presidential nominee called his son “good-looking,” before revealing that he has never been in a relationship (that Trump knows of). “I’m not sure he’s there yet. I don’t think he’s had a girlfriend yet,” Trump said, per Page Six.

It makes sense that Trump isn’t quite sure if his son has had a girlfriend or not (I guess?) because Melania has said that she calls all the shots when it comes to Barron. In an interview on Fox News Channel’s Fox & Friends last month, the Melania author revealed, “I was always perfectly fine with one [child]. And Donald was encouraging [us] to have more,” she said. “And I said, like, ‘I’m completely fine with one because it’s [a] very busy life.’ I know how busy he is … and I’m in charge of everything. So that’s why. It’s just perfect.”
There you have it. If Barron did have a girlfriend, he and Melania must have just never felt the need to tell the family patriarch.
During the interview with PBD Podcast, Trump also called Barron “very smart,” a “very nice guy,” and a “good student.” He added, “He doesn’t mind being alone, but he’s somebody that gets along with people.”
This backs up what former schoolmates from Oxbridge Academy have said about the younger Trump when he was in high school. In July, some of his friends told Daily Mail that Barron had a code name at school, was constantly followed by Secret Service, and didn’t “participate in sports, attend parties or eat his meals with the rest of the school” to ensure his privacy.
“Barron was very funny and sociable. He would start the most random conversations and could be very entertaining,” a pal told the outlet. “[But] he was also very mysterious. He never attended football games or dances. I don’t think he met up with anyone outside of school or went on dates. If he had a girlfriend, it was top secret. We never knew about it.”
Trump is also dad to Donald Jr., born in Dec. 1977, Ivanka, born in Oct. 1981, and Eric, born in Jan. 1984, with late wife Ivana Trump, and daughter Tiffany, born in Oct. 1993, with ex-wife Marla Maples.
