While Taylor Swift is busy wrapping up the European leg of her Eras Tour at Wembley Stadium in London, Donald Trump is putting out claims on Truth Social that are anything but the truth. On Sunday, Aug. 18, the former president falsely posted that the 34-year-old musician had endorsed him in the 2024 election.

The misleading post showed three snapshots of young women wearing T-shirts that proclaimed, “Swifties for Trump.” (You can see it here.) Variety believes the images have been “doctored” along with a satirical headline that her fans “want a strong leader in the White House” after the thwarted terrorist attempt in Vienna. Even though there is a vocal “Swifties for Harris” movement already started, the “Shake It Off” singer has not endorsed any candidate so far this year.
The fourth photo in Donald Trump’s post is the most troublesome, and the one that could find him in legal trouble with Swift. He added an AI-generated image of Swift as Uncle Sam and the message, “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump.” He captioned the post, “I accept!” Donald Trump shouldn’t be holding his breath for a real-life endorsement from Swift anytime soon since she put her muscle behind President Joe Biden in 2020.
The former president has had a weird obsession with Swift for quite some time, though. In Ramin Setoodeh’s book, Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass, he praised her looks while downplaying her political affiliations. “I think she’s beautiful — very beautiful! I find her very beautiful. I think she’s liberal. She probably doesn’t like Trump. I hear she’s very talented,” he told Setoodeh. “I think she’s very beautiful, actually — unusually beautiful!”
It wouldn’t be surprising to see Swift’s legal team issue a cease-and-desist order to Trump because he used her image without her permission — and with a message, she certainly didn’t approve. If Swift’s attorneys aren’t on the case, don’t worry, the Swifties have it handled. “Swifties – let’s get Taylor’s attention on this. It’s disgusting. We know Tay does not support Trump or the use of AI to spread misinformation using her likeness,” wrote one super fan on X. “She needs to get her legal team to respond ASAP.”
Swift has an entire army of fans watching her back!
