Will Donna Kelce Watch Travis' Acting Debut in 'Grotesquerie' With Taylor Swift?
Donna Kelce is one proud mama!
At the premiere of the new FX drama series Grotesquerie she beamed about her son, Travis Kelce. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has done some impressive multitasking co-starring in the 10-episode horror with a dream team cast including Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, Micaela Diamond, Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Raven Goodwin.
At the premiere, Donna Kelce exclusively told Parade she found out he was doing the series “when everybody else did.”
"He was tight lipped," she added. "I think that was by choice. This is something that's unfamiliar to him. Something that I know he's always wanted to do. I think he just wants everybody to see it at the same time and see how it goes.”
In the new Ryan Murphy series, a small community is rattled by a number of grisly crimes. Detective Lois Tryon (Niecy Nash-Betts) believes the crimes are being directed at her in some way. She's struggling to make the connection with dealing with her husband Marshall Tryon (Courtney B. Vance) in long-term hospital care and a strained relationship with her daughter. She finally ends up enlisting nun/journalist Sister Megan Duval (Micaela Diamond) to help.
Where Detective Tyron sees despair, Sister Duval sees hope. And together they seek answers and get entangled in a sinister web. “It’s escapism at its heart but there’s some hope in it and it has a real human tread of good versus evil,” Diamond tells Parade.

How did Travis Kelce get the role in Grotesquerie?
As Murphy explained to reporters earlier in the day, Kelce had told Murphy that he was interested in getting into acting. After Murphy responded that he would keep the athlete in mind for a future project, Kelce replied, "No, I want to do it now. I have three months now, and I really would love to have anything.” So Murphy, who was in pre-production for Grotesquerie tailored a part for Kelce which he took on with great enthusiasm.
According the cast, Kelce was devoted to learning the craft, worked with an acting coach for a few months and was a true superstar on set. “He was really wonderful, very warm and wanting to learn, that’s all you can ask,” said Courtney B. Vance. “He’s a very open actor and a newbie and was very prepared, and wants to be able to do this. And there wasn't a lot of time”
