Donnie Yen to Reprise Role as Caine in John Wick Spinoff

Donnie Yen isn’t done with his role as the blind assassin Caine from John Wick: Chapter 4 quite yet.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the veteran Hong Kong action star will return in a spinoff picking up with his character being freed of his obligations to the High Table after the final events of John Wick 4.
“Working on John Wick: Chapter 4 was an extraordinary experience. The reason these films resonate so deeply is because, like myself, Chad, Basil, and Erica push themselves to create action, fights, and stunts that are not only thrilling, inventive, and artistic, but also expressive of character, story, and emotion,” Yen said in a statement. “Caine is an incredible character with a haunted past, and I am excited to return to the role.”
No further details have been confirmed, but there’s a good chance the plot could center around Akira’s (Rina Sawayama) quest for revenge against Caine after his reluctant showdown with her father Shimazu Koji (Hiroyuki Sanada).
Production on the currently untitled project is slated to begin in Hong Kong in 2025. No director has been attached to the film.
The movie is the latest expansion of the John Wick universe after the Peacock series The Continental and upcoming spinoff film Ballerina starring Ana de Armas.
