Donny Osmond can relate to Justin Bieber's latest single "Lonely" on a personal level.

The former child star, who rose to fame singing alongside his siblings in The Osmonds before turning into a bonafide teen idol as a solo artist, told People magazine that he knows "what Justin's going through."

"I can really relate because I've been through it and I came out through the other end of the tunnel and I admire Justin because he's changed his life," Osmond, 62, told Nancy O’Dell. "He's married. He wants to focus on the relationship with his wife."

Like Osmond, Bieber quickly shot to stardom at the ripe age of 13 after his manager Scooter Braun discovered the Canadian teenager singing on YouTube.

Bieber's new song "Lonely," released in October, is a reflection on the isolation of his teen fame. It was also emotional to record: At one point the singer broke down crying in the studio, outwardly expressing how alone he had felt in the throes of fame.

"Maybe when I'm older it'll all calm down, but it's killing me now/ What if you had it all but nobody to call, maybe then you'd know me/ Cause I've had everything, but no one's listening, that's just (expletive) lonely," Bieber sings. "Everybody knows my past now, like my house was always made of glass/ Maybe that's the price you pay for the money and fame at an early age."

On Monday, Osmond said he had his own struggles with the limelight.

"When you go from hysteria and people screaming your name and you go back to pure silence and you're so alone, you can't go out," he told O'Dell. "You can't show your face, you can't do anything."

The "Sweet and Innocent" singer got emotional while recalling a time when he resorted to "crawling up into a ball… in a corner and crying my eyes out really from loneliness."

"So I know what Justin's going through, what he's been through. And it was at that time in my life, I thought, 'I need to take care of myself,' " he said.

Osmond credits his wife Debbie Glenn with rescuing him. "We just celebrated 42 years and she saved my life," said Osmond.

It's yet another way Osmond can relate to Bieber. The "Lonely" singer has also credited his wife, Hailey, with helping him turn over a new leaf.

"My eyes are 4 you. My heart is 4 you. My soul is 4 you. My love is 4 you," Bieber wrote on Instagram Sunday in celebration of Baldwin's 24th birthday.

Bieber continued: "I am Home wherever you are. You are my safe place. I am completely and utterly obsessed with who you are. My biggest dream is growing old with you. I can’t believe you are mine forever. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY."

After breaking up in 2016, the couple reignited their relationship in the summer of 2018 and got engaged that July following years of rumors of their on-again, off-again dating. The two married quietly in September 2018, and then held a ceremony with friends and family a year later.
