Double Tony Winner Michael Cerveris Joins Broadway’s ‘Tammy Faye’ As Jerry Falwell
Two-time Tony winner Michael Cerveris will play Rev. Jerry Falwell in this fall’s Broadway production of the musical Tammy Faye, which features music by Elton John, lyrics by Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears and a a book by Ink playwright James Graham.
Cerveris, The Gilded Age actor whose Broadway credits include Tony-winning performances in Sondheim’s Assassins and Alison Bechdel’s Fun Home, joins previously announced Tammy Faye cast members including Katie Brayben and Christian Borle as Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker.

The casting was announced today by producers Rocket Stage, Greene Light Stage and James L. Nederlander.
“As an audience member, I’ve always admired Michael’s performances, and I am thrilled to welcome him into the Tammy Faye family” said director Rupert Goold in a statement, “I know his Jerry Falwell will be the perfect foil for Katie and Christian’s Tammy Faye and Jim. I can’t wait to get into the rehearsal room to work with Michael and the full company to bring this wonderful new musical to Broadway audiences this fall.”
Tammy Faye, a hit on London’s West End, begins previews October 19 at Broadway’s newly refurbished Palace Theater, with opening night set for November 14.
