'Doubling Down With the Derricos' Darian Makes a Bold Confession to Parents About Her Future Plans (Exclusive Clip)

Big changes are ahead for TLC viewers tuning into Doubling Down With the Derricos Season 5. From family health scares to a new house and the first Derrico kid preparing to graduate from high school, fans are in for a wild ride.
Ahead of the Tuesday, May 28 episode of the reality series, Deon and Karen Derrico's eldest child, Darian, 18, made a bold confession about her future plans in an exclusive sneak peek clip TLC shared with Parade.
"I didn't always want to go to school," the teenager admitted to her parents in the video. "When you say college can help you or whatever, I was like, 'Yeah, that's cool. But I don't really know what I want to do.' So I wish you kind of didn't talk about it anymore and then let me do my own research."
Karen shared where she was coming from, explaining, "I mean, I wasn't trying to take over. I wanted to make sure I gave to you what I wish someone had given to me."
To that, Darian clarified her stance, telling her mom, "I understand what you were doing when you were pushing me to go. But I want to do this because I want to do this. I don't want to do this because I feel, like, pressured or pushed."
In a confessional with producers, Karen disclosed, "So I'm pretty shocked right now because she's always seemed excited about college. You know, she's never acted like she was only doing it to make me happy."
The mom of 14 went on to explain that she simply wanted Darian to have a fallback.
"That can get me emotional because I feel like when I look at my mom and my grandma and all of them, they didn't have fallbacks," Karen said. "My mama had to work in a sewing factory until she was given disability."
Darian replied, "This is kind of new for me. It's very scary. So I feel like I just need time to, like, really go inside my heart and figure out what's best for me right now."

Karen reassured her daughter that no matter what she chooses to pursue in her future, she has her "100 percent full support in making that happen."
In addition to Darian, Karen and Deon have 13 other children: Derrick, 13; twins Dallas and Denver, 12; quintuplets Deniko, Dariz, Deonee, Daician and Daiten, 10; twins Diez and Dior, 6; and triplets Dawsyn, De'Aren and Dyver, 4.
