'Doubling Down With the Derricos' Deon Shares Health Update on Mom GG on Milestone Birthday
In Season 5 of Doubling Down With the Derricos, Deon's mother, Marian "GG" Derrico, decided to stop chemotherapy treatment for her lung cancer. The family matriarch has battled lung cancer since her diagnosis in 2014. And recently, GG celebrated a milestone birthday amid her ongoing health issues.
On Tuesday, Aug. 27, Deon took to Instagram with a carousel of photos of GG and a heartfelt message honoring his mother.
"Happy Birthday 75th to the matriarch of my family Ms. Marian J. DERRICO!" he wrote in the update. "I love you Ma, from the moon and back because of you…. I’m ME, and I’ve been blessed with all that I have because of your endless love, guidance, strength, and your ability to connect with me on an intellectual level from a small child!"
The father of 14 then offered a low-key health update on GG by hinting that she has recently been doing well.
"It’s my prayer, my wish, my hope, and my desire that GOD, continues to bless you with an abundance of great health and vibrant lifestyle to allow another 25 years or more of being the Mother, Diva and Grandmother." he continued.

During an exclusive interview with Parade in June, Deon opened up about how GG was doing after stopping chemotherapy. He explained that it's been "very challenging navigating through the many changes" of his mom's health—and that he "couldn't get through it without the prayers."
He added: "GG, now she's still just dealing with the residual effects of the chemo. So she still has good days and bad days. You know, she has days when I'm asking God like, ‘God, what now?’ And then she has days, I said, ‘Oh my, you know you're looking pretty good today.’"
