'Doubling Down With the Derricos' GG Makes Candid Confession About Her Cancer Journey (Exclusive Clip)
Marian 'GG' Derrico from TLC's 'Doubling Down With the Derricos'
Those who tune into TLC's Doubling Down With the Derricos know that Deon's mother, Marian "GG" Derrico, is the heart and soul of the larger-than-life family. As GG continues her cancer battle, viewers are naturally concerned about her health and well-being—especially since she decided to stop chemotherapy treatments.
In a sneak peek clip TLC shared with Parade ahead of the Tuesday, June 11 episode titled “Black People Ski Too," the Derrico matriarch made a candid confession about her cancer journey.
"I snuck away because I'm going to do some sledding," GG, 74, explained in the clip, which took place during the Derrico family's skiing trip. "I wasn't able to go down that ski slope, but I'm going down this hill."
After gliding down on a plastic sled, GG exclaimed with an exhilarated smile, "That was so much fun!"
In a sit-down with producers after the thrilling moment, GG made an honest confession.
"There's times, here and there periodically, where I have the feeling that I've fought long enough," she said solemnly. "Then, it's moments like that, that remind me you haven't. You have not fought long enough. You keep on fighting."
She added: "So, I'll keep on fighting until God tells me to stop."
GG was first diagnosed with lung cancer in 2014. She seemed to be doing well for a while after chemotherapy slowed the growth. Unfortunately, the tumor grew to the size of a baseball in 2022, and she resumed treatment.
Earlier in Season 5 of the reality series, however, GG announced her decision to stop chemotherapy.
