Drake And Kendrick Lamar Beef To Be Covered In Upcoming Documentary
Drake and Kendrick Lamar created one of the biggest moments in Hip-Hop history earlier this year when they went head-to-head in a rap beef. Many content creators have engaged in analyses of the feud and the discourse ought to hit a new level when the lyrical joust receives the full documentary treatment.
Deadline recently reported that Channel 4 will publish Public Enemies: Kendrick Vs Drake, a documentary along the same vein as their work covering Jay-Z vs. Kanye West, produced by Acme Films and GroupM Motion Entertainment. They will use “archive and interviews with those who’ve known and worked with the megastar rappers, charting both of their ascents” as well as dive into what made both K. Dot and Drizzy so massive within Hip-Hop.
In addition to chronicling their rise to success, the documentary will also take an in-depth look at their beef from several months ago which included tracks like the former Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 “Not Like Us,” the scathing “Family Matters,” and Drake’s proverbial white flag “The Heart Part 6.”
“Public Enemies: Kendrick vs Drake is not just a biography; it’s a cultural exploration of two of the most influential voices in modern music,” Shaminder Nahal, Head of Specialist Factual for Channel 4, said. “This documentary will delve into the unique journeys of Kendrick and Drake, examining how their backgrounds, talents, and visions have made them global icons.”
Acme Creative Director Jaimie D’Cruz added, “It’s only a few years since our previous Public Enemies film for Channel 4 explored the rivalry between Jay Z vs Kanye, but Public Enemies: Kendrick vs Drake feels like a story that takes place in a time when all the rules have changed, and beef is all around us.”
Kendrick Lamar has racked up major wins since the beef ended. Besides “Not Like Us” going No. 1, he held a popular Juneteenth Pop Out concert at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and was named the Super Bowl LIX halftime show performer. He infamously stated “There’s no round twos” in the promotional trailer, which was seemingly an allusion to Drake wanting to re-engage in lyrical warfare.
Drake, on the other hand, has tried to continue on with his musical releases as usual. He appeared on Sexyy Red’s “U My Everything,” had two features on Camila Cabello’s album C, XOXO, and two features on Gordo’s DIAMANTE.
He has also shared solo tracks as part of his 100 Gigs content dump for fans. Those include “It’s Up” featuring Young Thug and 21 Savage, “Housekeeping Knows” featuring Latto, “Blue Green Red,” “Circadian Rhythm,” “No Face,” and “SOD,” which was originally leaked by Kai Cenat and featured Lil Yachty.
