Duane 'Dog' Chapman gets emotional talking about wife Beth's death: 'She's waiting on me'
Bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman was emotional on Thursday as he talked about his wife Beth’s death in June.
Chapman was on Strahan, Sara and Keke Thursday morning promoting his new WGN reality show, Dog’s Most Wanted. The show started filming in January and includes Beth’s final months.
Beth Chapman was diagnosed with Stage 2 throat cancer in September of 2017. The removal of the tumor was documented in the A&E special, Dog and Beth: Fight of Their Lives. In November of 2018, the cancer returned. Beth was hospitalized on June 22, and passed away on June 26.
A preview clip of Dog’s Most Wanted featuring Beth was shown during Duane’s appearance.
“I don’t want to be that person,” Beth said in the clip. “If I’m going to die, I’m going to die in my boots.”
Duane struggled to talk about Beth, getting emotional multiple times while holding back tears.
“Something you just don’t want to face,” Duane said. “There’s reasons why you must. Hopefully it’s to help others, I guess. It sure ain’t helping me.”
He added that he believed Beth was waiting for him and not really gone.
“So in Hawaii, when you go sleep, you call it moi-moi,” he said. “So she’s moi-moi. She’s not dead, because if there is a God then that’s true, she’s not dead. She’s alive waiting on me.”
He continued: “I keep having these premonitions, dreams, visions that she’s in heaven watering the garden and I walk up and scare her at the end. She turns around and goes, ‘What took you so long, Big Daddy?’”
