Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson Reveals the Surprising Source of Her Granddaughter’s Birthday Cake & We’re Obsessed
Sarah Ferguson just revealed details of her granddaughter Sienna’s birthday party last month, and we can’t believe how down-to-earth it was. Sienna — the now 3-year-old daughter of Ferguson’s daughter Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi — had a fun and laid-back family celebration with one jaw-dropping detail.
“We had such a good time with balloons and a fabulous unicorn cake from Tesco,” the Duchess of York told Hello!

From Tesco?! You’re telling us that Sienna, the granddaughter of Sarah Ferguson and husband Prince Andrew, had a grocery store birthday cake? The granddaughter of King Charles III had a birthday cake from the United Kingdom’s equivalent of the United States’ Kroger, Publix, Stop & Shop, and the likes?!
Wow! To say we’re obsessed with how normal the Yorks are (at least when it comes to birthday parties) and Sienna’s love of unicorns would be an understatement.
This precious news comes ahead of the extra-exciting announcement that Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi (Yup, her middle name is after the late queen of England. The Tesco lover’s great-great-grandmother) is going to be a big sister!
The royal family announced the exciting news via a statement on X (formerly Twitter). “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together in early spring; a sibling for Wolfie and Sienna,” the announcement said. “His Majesty The King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.”
Princess Beatrice is also a stepmom to Mozzi’s 8-year-old son — Christopher “Wolfie” Woolf — who he shares with ex-wife Dara Huang. Earlier this year, Huang spoke to Harper’s Bazaar U.K. about what it’s like co-parenting with a royal.
“Wolfie has had two sets of parents trying to help him on both sides, and I just think, ‘The more, the merrier,’” she said. “I feel lucky to have such positive people around him, who really embrace him — because it didn’t have to be so easy.”
An insider previously told People that Princess Beatrice “embraced [Wolfie] as part of her life from the outset.”
“Beatrice is a wonderful and very hands-on stepmom,” the source said.
By early spring, she will be a “wonderful and very hands-on” mom of three. And now that the news is out, we have to know how the Yorks are celebrating the exciting news. Perhaps with a sheet cake from Tesco?
These celebrities are expecting babies in 2024!
