Duke City Championship Wrestling comes to New Mexico State Fair
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The New Mexico State Fair pulled no punches with its entertainment this year, bringing in pro wrestlers to mix things up.
The Duke City Championship Wrestling is a locally owned promotion that’s been around for the last year. Wrestlers have shown their skills a couple of times a day during the fair and will again this Saturday and Sunday at 3 and t 6.
In an exhibition this afternoon, Macho Libre took on Route 66 Champion Mr. Happy. He said it’s a thrill to perform at the state fair.

“I mean, this dream stuff, and this kind of audience reach is crazy. It’s not a wrestling fan base. It’s everybody. They all get a taste of it,” said Mr. Happy.
The match ended with a bit of controversy when Macho Libre used Mr. Happy’s toy horse as a weapon and knocked him out; the referee disqualified Macho Libre, giving Mr. Happy the victory.
